Who will greet and look after me when I present at the clinic?
You'll first meet practice manager Maria at reception then dental assistant Teresa will show you into the dental surgery when Dr John is ready to see you. Too easy.
Dentist - Dr John Pattison.
Dr John grew up in Newport and obtained a Bachelor of Dental Science from The University of Melbourne in 1983. Since then he has devoted almost all of his working life to practising dentistry in Yarraville.
His extensive dental knowledge and experience, technical skill, gentle touch and sense of humour have endeared him to his loyal patients - many of them highly anxious. Away from the clinic Dr John is a keen table tennis player who's competed in state, national and international competitions. His quick-thinking and reaction skills served him well in the late 1990s when he became a 'Sale of the Century' television game show champion. He also enjoys a round of golf when he can.
Dental assistant - Teresa Tanti
Teresa got her start in dental assisting with Dr John in the 1980s. She went on to train and work at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and in private practice in Footscray. Over many years Teresa has developed into a confident, knowledgable, skilled and treasured dental assistant. She is a true local having grown up in Yarraville; her parents operated the continental delicatessen that was located in Anderson Street (where Village Idiom is now located). She still lives in Yarraville and she can converse in Italian and Albanian.
Reception/practice manager - Maria Pattison.
While studying a Bachelor of Journalism at Deakin University Maria also worked at TripleM FM radio. After graduating she earned a cadetship in suburban newspapers and progressed to editor over 13 years. Having started a family in 2000 Maria joined the AFL Record editorial team. In 2011 she had a career change and became a certified personal trainer working at Fernwood Yarraville. In 2014 with four children at school, she juggled home duties and personal training with a support-role at the dental clinic. Since July 2018 she has managed the day-to-day running of the clinic. Maria speaks conversational Greek.
